At Obsessed App Ltd, your privacy is fundamental. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, protect, and store your information when you use the Obsessed mobile application (the “App”).

We are registered with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) as a data controller and pay the annual data protection fee.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Personal Information

When you create an account, we collect:

Your email address
Your first name (optional)

This data is stored securely using Firebase Authentication (see Section 5) and is used solely for account access and recovery. We do not use this information for marketing, and we do not sell or share it with other organisations.

2.2 Sensitive Content

Some features of the App (e.g. journaling, playlists) allow you to input personal or sensitive information. This data is end-to-end encrypted – meaning it is encrypted on your device before being uploaded, and cannot be read by us or anyone else, including our service provider Firebase (see Section 3).

2.3 Usage Data

We may collect anonymised information on how you use the App – such as session length, feature use, and device type - to help us improve performance, functionality, and stability. This data is aggregated and cannot be linked to your identity.

3. Data Storage & Security

We use Firebase, a secure infrastructure service provided by Google, to manage user accounts and store encrypted content. Firebase complies with global security and privacy standards and acts solely as a data processor on our behalf.

Firebase does not access, analyse, or use your data for advertising or profiling.
Your email is required only for login purposes and is not linked to readable content.
All sensitive user data (such as journal entries and playlists) is end-to-end encrypted. This means it is encrypted on the user’s device before being uploaded, and cannot be read by us or any third-party service, including Firebase.

4. Email Privacy & Apple / Android Options

We never share or sell your email address. It is used only to authenticate your account. If you're using Apple Sign-In, you can choose to hide your real email via Apple’s private relay feature.

On Android, privacy-focused users may opt to register using an anonymised email address of their choice (e.g. via ProtonMail or a private relay service of their own).

5. Data Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell your data, and we do not share your data with third-party marketing companies.

Your data may only be shared:

With trusted third-party service providers (e.g. Firebase), bound by strict confidentiality
If required by law (e.g. valid court order)

Even in the instance that we may receive a lawful request (such as a court order), we are unable to access encrypted user content. All sensitive data is end-to-end encrypted prior to transmission and cannot be decrypted without the user’s own credentials.

6. Your Rights Under GDPR/UK GDPR

As a user of the app, you have the right to:

Access your data
Request correction or deletion
Withdraw consent at any time

7. Children’s Privacy

The App is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If we become aware that such data has been collected, it will be deleted immediately.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy to reflect improvements or legal requirements. You will be notified of any material changes via the App. Continued use of the App indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
